Skimming pebbles at the sea,
fun for you, fun for me.
A pebble nice, flat and level too,
aim, spin with a finger, watch it bounce.
Flying over the wave, not through.
Incoming tide, depositing its load of
rattling pebbles, prattling pebbles.
Sun shining on the wet stones
making them gleam like gems.
Sapphires, rubies, and diamonds among them.
Rough stones glinting gold and silver.
The sea moans gently, as it distributes
natures’ finest jewelry for our pleasure
such a simple delight, so hard to measure.
